South Africa: The Ringing Stones

As the episode begins, John Paul leads the team to Adam’s Calendar, a unique conglomeration of dolerite stones set along the edge of a sheer cliff in South Africa. In the valley below are three pyramids with the same orientation as the pyramids of Giza. John Paul performs the ceremony to seek permission and guidance from the spirits. An archaeologist stands in the East primed to add more knowledge to the accepted understanding of these sites. A geologist takes her place in the South of the Medicine wheel anticipating two weeks of close scrutiny of the stones that make up these sites. A Zulu wisdom keeper and storyteller wonders which ancient tales will be relevant to this research expedition.

The archaeologist identifies Adam’s Calendar as possibly the oldest solar observatory on earth and the geo-physicist confirms it has a strong magnetic force and an astrological alignment to the constellation of Orion.  The cliff is strewn with distinctly shaped boulders with unusual markings. Our geo-physicist confirms the cliff is black reef quartz, yet these carved stones are dolerite, brought from hundreds of kilometres away and deposited in groupings. Over three days the team visit the various sites here at Adam’s Calendar.
The Zulu storyteller knows this place well. Folklore tells of this being the place where mankind was created. Two Annunaki brothers, Enki and Enlil, came to Earth to obtain gold. Needing slaves to carry out the mining operations, Enki and his genetic engineers created humans. John Paul had previously met a three-metre tall spirit who was a geneticist. He communicated to John Paul that this place was a laboratory where the Annunaki took the Neanderthal people and crossed them with their own DNA. Eight Annunaki women were chosen to give birth to the new creatures, and humans were continually modified by the Annunaki to create workers to help them mine for gold.
Toward the end of this full day of exploration, our storyteller leads the team to a sacred spot for his tribe, a patch of green earth under a large tree covered in offerings tied to the branches. He is reverent. The Zulu people still come to worship at this grave of Dumuzi. Over the years John Paul has had many conversations with the spirit of Dumuzi, who was part of the Annunaki expeditions. He disobeyed Annunaki laws by asking his sister Inanna to bury him here, on Earth. For him, Earth is the most beautiful planet he has ever seen and, through John Paul, the spirit of Dumuzi is able to remind the team that it is so important that humans look after this precious planet. Over dinner John Paul shares the results of ground penetrating radar that clearly shows a rectangular chamber below.

To prepare for the next exploration, we change perspective. With a POV from outer space, we zoom back to earth, focusing on the northern region of South Africa. We see a land covered in a massive lacework of circles and lines. There are thousands of stone circles and we focus on one hilltop cluster. We descend into the circle and find ourselves beside a dense shoulder-high wall made of reddish stones carefully stacked together. John Paul welcomes the team to what he calls the Welcome Circle. The South African state of Mpumalanga is home to the most concentrated areas of these stone circles, but there are hundreds of thousands of them over a vast belt across Africa. These are the least explored ancient structures in the world, and we are here to investigate who built them, when and why?
John Paul and his friend, scientist and local expert on these stone circles, Michael Tellinger, bring the team up to speed with the research and exploration that has been done by the two of them over the past 5 years. The stone circles are constructed in a similar fashion and all of them are approximately the same size, around 150 meters in diameter. While they all have contiguous outside walls, the inner walls form different patterns. The intact walls have no doors or passageways into the circles except where recent cultures have clearly modified the structures, or the walls have fallen. The circles are all built of the same stone, hornfels quartz. Some circles have nearby extensive stone terracing, which suggests farming happened here on a large scale at some time. The stone circles produce a strong electromagnetic field.
The geologist has been studying mining maps of the area and confirms that there are over 10,000 square kilometres of territory with these circles in Mpumalanga, with many or more in adjoining provinces, meaning there are probably hundreds of thousands of the circles.
She explains that dating the stones requires two assumptions; the first that the rocks were shaped before being placed in the circles and the second, that the patina has developed at consistent rates. If the rocks have been shaped, then their original colour would be dark grey i.e. without the reddish patina they now show. It is possible to date stones based on the growth of the patina however, the rate of patina growth depends on moisture levels, presence of ice and so on. So, dating these stones is going to require some conjecture. They could be more than 100,000 years old. She notices that some of the rocks appear to have resin or welding marks on them. Maybe they were fused to something which is man-made and therefore dateable? She will have these analysed to see what material they are made from. As for the ringing quality of the stones and the electro-magnetic forces, she will get additional expert advice.
The archaeologist explains that there have been limited excavations here due to a lack of funding. It is known that the Dravidians from Sri Lanka came here to mine gold pre white settlement and their artefacts have been found in many of the stone circles, but they do not appear to be the original builders. The limited excavations have found other artefacts, but these might be from people who lived in the circles opportunistically. The current archaeological opinion is that these were cattle corrals. The team discusses this theory, asking if the circles were used to keep cattle contained, why are there no doors in the intact circles? How did the cattle get in and out? Are there sufficient cattle bones to support the idea that there were so many corrals? The short answer is that there is no evidence of cattle bones or relics from a human population in numbers enough to suggest these hundreds of thousands of ruins are from cattle corrals. The local storytellers speak of the same legends as at Adam’s Calendar, of the two brothers who came from another planet to mine gold and built these circles.
The team investigates the fascinating mystery of the ‘ringing stones’ - solid stones from the enclosure walls that make ringing sounds when you hit them. The team members tap the stones and different notes ring out like metallic bells. A sound engineer is invited into one particular circle and confirms that the notes are all tones of a B flat- major scale with a consistent repeating base note of 147 hertz. The geologist is intrigued to explore this phenomenon. But before she starts experimenting with colleagues, she is interested in what John-Paul’s spirits have to say.
John Paul has spoken with several spirit guides here over the years and he has an important story to tell. He has learned that there are three types of circles: ones like this welcome circle with ringing stones, energy generating circles and atmosphere controlling circles with terraces for farming. Based on his experience, he will need to contact the guides outside this circle as it’s too noisy within. He has already learned from an Annunaki engineer that these circles were built by the Annunaki, a race from another planet, who came here to mine gold to fix the ailing atmosphere on their home planet. Each circle is the somatic pattern of the earth energy at that spot. The frequencies are contained and enhanced by the stone walls.  The geo-physicist shows a video of metal shavings being put onto a metal board with different frequencies running through it – the shavings take shapes, many like the stone circles.
Over the next week the team visits several circles in this immediate area to investigate further, including a circle built in the shape of a magnetron. Here the energy force is very strong and the geo-physicist can measure it. They visit a circle with terracing, and John Paul confirms from his guides that this was a place for farming and living, much as the archaeologists found in later centuries.
We come back the next day and the geo-physical testing reveals that these stones were placed in circles a very long time ago. The patina on the stones develops at different rates depending on whether there is ice or extreme heat, but the likely date range is somewhere between 200,000 and 400,000 years ago. If this is right, this challenges the known history of humankind. Our geo-physicist can also confirm the presence of a strong force in the circle with the source appearing to be the stones themselves. She hypothesizes that the force would have been stronger in the past when the walls were more solid. The team members express feelings of wonder and bewilderment as they contemplate the possibilities of how these circles were built.
As a next chapter in the story of the megaliths of South Africa, John Paul takes the team to explore some intriguing giant boulders in the state of KwaZulu-Natal, a region that has barely been explored for our purposes. It is strewn with huge standing stones that appear to be shaped and deliberately placed in rows and arcs. Many have unusual carvings on them, and one has the constellation of the Pleiades clearly carved into its surface. The geologist notes that these stones are also Dolerite and many also ring when they are struck.
Our Storyteller confirms that there are legends of giants in this area. Michael and John Paul share what their research has uncovered about stories of giants from scriptures and cultural sources. Is it possible that these boulders were, as John Paul’s guides have shared, shaped and placed by giants who roamed this region at the time of the Annunaki? His guides explain that these ruins were left to aid the early humans so they could live harmoniously with the earth.

Over the next few days, local residents who’ve been investigating and mapping these stones take the team to visit several similar outcroppings of large dolerite boulders some of which are aligned in the cardinal directions and some of which form solar calendars.

On the final night, under the stars of  KwaZulu-Natal, the team members are animated in their discussion. Are these megalithic structures actual proof of alien contact in the far distant past? The information from spirit guides and Zulu legends, seems to support this concept when set against the lack of evidence to back up other rationales. However, accepting such a radical change vis a vis accepted ideologies would require us to make a major shift from accepted textbook doctrines.
The team members step into the Medicine Wheel and share their perspectives from their directions. As John Paul completes the wheel from the North (the place of spirit) he notes that these stone ruins hold a mystery that we may never solve. He thanks the spirits and the land for helping the team to walk inside the mystery of these ruins.
