Victoria is presently home to 38 Aboriginal tribes.There were likely more than a hundred specific language groups in the 60,000 years of continuous occupation of this land by Indigenous peoples.

 

This state of what is now Australia, is home to a vast array of significant and sacred sites.  These sites are and always have been under the custodianship of Traditional Owners, Traditional Elders and Traditional Custodians. The team for this episode includes Traditional owners, Elders and Custodians along side a Geologist, and an archaeo-astronomer.

We know that there were established settlements with stone construction, sophisticated trade routes and sustainable environmental management practices. We also know that the astronomical knowledge of Aboriginal peoples is complex. 

 

The sites explored in this episode will be developed in close partnership with the Traditional Owners, Elders and Traditional Custodians.  The team will explore these sites following appropriate Traditional protocols and only with the express permission and participation of the appropriate Traditional Owners, Elders and Traditional Custodians.
